Update: Utah’s Unidentified Persons

We relied heavily on NamUs, the Doe Network, and the Utah BCI Unidentified list to complete this report. See our complete list of resources used to compile data here.

The number of 35 unidentified remains has not changed since our last report in July, however, we have now added some specific case information to accommodate these statistics.

There’s something important to remember here – these numbers only account for the publicly reported unidentified persons.

Law Enforcement agencies are not required to report found human remains to the public.  They are only required to report “cold cases” of unsolved missing persons and homicides, not unidentified remains, that are 3 years or older to the database – which may or may not be publicly accessible.
